Every single day for five years, I have been incredibly fortunate to work with an amazing group of people at Maple. We challenge each other to make product and business decisions with a single desired outcome: Make life easier for parents.
Maple, like companies often do, has fallen short from time to time- making Maple harder to use and, sadly, sometimes less reliable. In these moments, we hear it from the families that trust us, and feel the weight of letting our families down- and in many ways, letting our mission down.
Ultimately, these it’s the moments where Maple comes up short that force us as a business to get better and propel us forward.
October is a reflection of that forcing function, where we took steps in the right direction, and it’s a month that Maple is very proud of.
At Maple, we do not celebrate as a team but as a global community of people doing our life's work: caring for our family members. We are working alongside the parents we serve, and know the families that choose Maple are just as passionate as we are about sharing family responsibilities at home, and creating better systems to support parents. So I wanted to share more intimate details about what we are accomplishing together, and hope you feel as involved in this movement as we believe you are.
So what made October a banner month for our movement?
Apple recognized Maple on three different occasions as “The App of the Day”, an honor that highlighted Maple across a hundred different markets.
The result? Since June Maple has now been supporting families in 100+ different countries.
Parents deserving more support to care at the highest level are not isolated to one neglected area of need. They need more support in their own partnerships at home, better software to make that collaborative partnership easier, better working conditions (like remote and flexible hours), and more support from our government in a number of ways.
In recent months, major media and publications have brought larger awareness to our movement: to improve working systems at home. There has been fantastic coverage from large media companies like The Washington Post and Vox Media. In October, the awareness continued, with a fantastic piece by The Global Mail that highlighted the work we are doing at Maple.
While we are thankful for large companies like Apple for validating our work and media companies for validating our mission, we want to take a second to also acknowledge the joint participation from our partners.
Maple has teamed up with fifty other brands to keep Maple free, and to offer discounts to our families. In every survey, parents share with us the financial stress their households face, and we are proud to not only build the best product- but keep it free for the families that need it most.
Maple also brought on our first Maple Expert, Pace Webb, in October to further support parents on organizing their digital life and getting set up on Maple.
While October was a month of meaningful progress, the work is not even close to done.
In November we are making improvements to our meal planning suite, making meal planning available on desktop, and working on advancing our Ai features to further take weight off of parents shoulders.
Last but not least- I want to thank you personally, the mom, dad or caregiver using Maple. The holiday season is a stressful time, and we are doing everything in our power to make it easier on you.
