The anti-remote rhetoric is sad and pathetic

Jul 14, 2025 - By Michael Perry

My 5 year old son presented to his entire school on his “first 100 days at school”. The second he saw my wife and I there he had the most incredible smile. All I could think about afterwards was how sad I would have been to miss this precious, 1/1, moment.

A company ago, I would have. I would have missed this to a commute, to a conference room. The anti-WFH/ remote rhetoric is so sad and pathetic.

Are people less productive at home? Factually, no. They are actually more productive. Are parents more resentful for being forced to miss their kids life moments? I absolutely know so.

If you want to build an in office company for culture reasons, that’s fine. That need just depends on what culture you want to cultivate.

We are building a wonderful culture at Maple from everywhere. Maple is deeply rooted in putting family first: our product, our mission, our work life, and our culture. Maple is made for your family.

Here’s to the next 100 waves, the next big product launch at Maple, and to not showing up short for either work or family.
